The work on show in this section is his early work whilst studying Fine Art at Leeds; the work spans a 3-year period where experimenting, developing, and forming a solid painting practice. Scale, subject matter resonated around early relationships, memories of life, almost documenting a visual journey of the artists' life. The layering of thin washes on the surface attempted to convey the everyday moments that pass, without classing them as important.
The work showcases the artist range further, keeping to the fundamentals of figuration and landscape in his works. Narratives, reflections of life, a passage of the artists stylistic voyage, see as a snapshot.
Memories, evoked from the paintings produced sit within the artists own private collection that mark key moments, like a journal or diary.
Influences of Francesco Clemente, Paladino, Marc Chegal, Richard Diebenkorn, Whistler, Turner, John Bratby.. the list can go on.
